Quick update.
Great news. I bit the bullet and called my brother, who has refused to talk to me for over a week. He was open to me, said he loved me (back) and misses me and John and Lillian.
He agreed to sign the release of information, so the staff can speak with me. So it seems the new medication started this week is working.
And I ordered him a pizza, salad and diet cokes for a surprise dinner. Coordinated with his program. No judgment! This is his comfort food and food is our love language in the Monkman family.
I’m cementing our renewed bond with pizza. 🍕
Some more of my crocuses bursting open all around today- I believe those are saffron threads in the center of these beautiful white ones.
Thanks for the support everyone- things have finally stopped crumbling. My optimism is returning. And I slept at least six hours last night – interrupted, but still substantial.

I’m very happy that you spoke with your brother and things are moving in a positive direction again. Grateful for you to get a more reasonable amount of sleep. And the crocuses …. the dessert on a happy day. Lovely lady, lovely flowers.
I’m so happy that you’ve begun a healthy dialogue again. The wonders of the right medicine….and pizza, can’t be overstated!
I hope your sleep continues to improve, and as well, your brother/sister bond. (I know it will!!!)

Thanks for the quick GREAT news update Kathy! This made my day! I hope you Dad is doing ok too. We here in PA are pulling for you and your family. Glad you are getting some rest to clear your mind and reenergize. You learned alot from this and I feel that you will always be able to communicate on John’s behalf…a true advocate!
